About Me

I am an early career researcher with experience working in global and national public health initiatives. I am passionate about harnessing research and communications to address public health challenges and emerging threats affecting young people. I have worked with adolescents, young people, women and children in rural and urban low-income communities in India.

I am a PhD candidate at the University of Sydney and a Research Officer at Youth Well Lab. My doctoral research project ‘Healthy Places, Healthy Futures’ Coalition, aims to break silos in adolescent health research and programming. This initiative seeks to centre adolescents as partners, by implementing a transdisciplinary strategy to expand adolescent engagement in chronic disease prevention, using a planetary health lens. I hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work in Public Health from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai and an undergraduate degree in Mass Communication from the University of Delhi. My areas of interest include adolescent, digital and environmental health. My Master’s Dissertation titled “Access to mHealth: Services and its Linkage with Maternal Health Related Behaviour” was a quantitative study based in a public hospital of Mumbai, Maharashtra. At TISS, I received the Prize and Shield for ‘Best Student’ and the Prize and Shield for ‘Best Student in Field Work‘. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from the University of Delhi. I was awarded the Delhi University Gold Medal for my academic performance.

I am a Youth Commissioner of the Second Lancet Commission on Adolescent Health and Wellbeing. I co-chair the Emerging Professionals Network, International Association of Adolescent Health. I have been selected to join the GAMA (The Global Action for Measurement of Adolescent Health) Advisory Group of the World Health Organisation as a Young Expert. I was a part of the Young Professionals’ Editorial Group of the UNESCO Chair Global Health & Education. Previously, I was a Member of the Youth Council of the World Health Organisation. I was also a part of the Council’s working group on climate change. I was selected to represent India as one of the four National Delegates at the Mock Education Ministers Summit organised by Mock COP in the run-up to COP28. In India, I have worked with organisations including UNICEF, Ashoka University, Public Health Foundation of India, SEWA Bharat, Tata Memorial Hospital, Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) and others.
